Tamarack is a planned 3,800 acre year-round resort on the northwest shore of Cascade Lake, Idaho. This phased development will include several small mountainside villages, a commercial center and conference facility, multiple hotels of from forty to several hundred rooms, two 18 hole golf courses, two tennis clubs, and a proposed concert hall.
The character of Tamarack will be based on the classic elements of mountain architecture; large roofs, stone walls and timber frame construction. The massing of the various village structures will be carefully studied to minimize the project’s visual impact on the natural setting and to create an intimate, friendly scale suited to its pedestrian-oriented plan. Visitors will be transported to the upper villages from lower level parking areas to minimize auto traffic and encourage pedestrian circulation through a variety of public spaces. By clustering the villages around the ski lift areas, guests will be able to ski into and out of a majority of the residences.
