The Sonnenalp Resort Hotel is a complex of three separate lodges of 192 rooms, two restaurants, a fully equipped health facility with pool and a golf country club located in the Vail Valley. The Faessler family, who own and operate the property, required an addition to one of their small lodges and desired an expeditious plan of construction which would allow them to complete construction of the new building at the start of the ski season.

The Bavarian atmosphere of the Vail hotel is reinforced through carefully crafted details and a variety of room sizes and configurations. Traditional architectural elements, such as flower-laden window boxes, carved-wood paneled rooms, hand-painted murals, European window systems and an overall spatial intimacy suggest a luxurious Tyrolean retreat in the middle of the Rocky Mountains. The hotel has consistently won national travel awards for its service and traditional charm.
